Welcome to the third installment of The Archive Room!
That’s Roy Rogers (aka Leonard Slye) in the upper left. His OM-45 Deluxe is front and center, though we don’t know why he would agree to loan it to a band mate for this photo. Roy was in a number of bands including: The Rocky Mountaineers, the International Cowboys, the O-Bar-O Cowboys, Jack LeFevre and His Texas Outlaws, then the Pioneers Trio that eventually became the Sons of the Pioneers in 1934. We assume that’s the group here.
Roy’s OM-45 Deluxe (the very first one ever made) was sold at auction in 2009 for $460,000 to an anonymous bidder. It was rumored that he bought it at a pawn shop for $150.00. Not a bad return on investment!
